About Me
I have been creating art for all of my life, beginning in childhood and continuing on to present day. I am basically a self-taught artist, and think that by the time I eventually got to art school, it was too late (I left after a very short time).
As a child I was always absorbed in painting and drawing and received a great deal of encouragement from my grandparents with whom I grew up with.
Although I have a Degree in Physics, I earn my living as a computer programmer, which allows me the freedom to follow my own inclinations in art, rather than worrying about what I'll sell. I like to paint the ugliness of buildings rather than seeking inspiration from Nature, though the subject is largely irrelevant to me.
I'm also a musician, playing the drums in a band in Wolverhampton. I find that both art and music offer me a release from ordinary life.
I begin a painting with a naturalistic enough interpretation of what's before me, but it is just a jumping off point really, and the work develops from there. I usually start with a photo, but somewhere along the line I lose the photo and just see what happens!
