English Bridge

The English Bridge (once called Stone Bridge) in Shrewsbury was probably built about the same time as the Abbey in the 11th Century. The original bridge had towers and other structures incorperated. The bridge as it appears today was built by the architect J. Gwynne and was opened in 1774. Click here to view the orignal plans on the Darwin Country website.
